location: bishops stortford, essex type of project: contemporary rear extension, internal re-modelling client: private status: under construction description: the client brief was to make the ground floor equal to the 1st floor accommodation and create an architectural statement. The rear extension has been created with 2 sweeping roof forms clad in zinc that abut a central column of black brick. This creates function and form to the rear of the property and with the advent of roof lights allows a perfect evening dining area flooded with natural light. The interior accommodation now consists of a beautiful kitchen/dining area linked by way of a glass panel and door into the family lounging room. The floor levels have been designed that the rooms will effortlessly float out onto the new terrace area which overlooks the newly landscaped garden |

location: coopersale, essex type of project: rationalisation of layout, refurbishment and creation of a new feature entrance client: private status: current description: an existing stable conversion with an awkward internal layout due to the location of the existing main entrance on the side of the building. Our proposals include creating a new entrance in the centre of the building which rationalises the internal space whilst adding character and a focal point to the exterior. One of the existing two staircases will be removed to improve the flow through the house and enhance the living areas. Using materials such as oak and brick, the design will reflect the original architectural style, whilst creating a modern feel.ClearDesigns’ scheme will introduce a new bespoke kitchen and bathroom with a galleried landing within the entrance area, creating a double height space |
